DUDLEY, Mass. – The University of New England women's soccer team erased and early deficit on its way to a 3-1 victory over Nichols College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Lizzie Frattaroli factored in all three goals for the Nor'easters (8-4-3, 4-1-3 CCC) who now sit tied for second and just one point out of first place in the CCC with only a game remaining. The loss eliminated Nichols for conference championship contention as it falls to 7-8-2 overall and 2-6-0 in league action.
The Bison struck first as Natalie Grey found Grace Killman for a goal in the fifth minute of action.
Tori Keyes tied the game for UNE in the 15
th minute with her team-best seventh goal of the season. Frattaroli provided an assist on the score.
Frattaroli put the Nor'easters in front 2-1 in the 28
th minute with her first goal of the afternoon with help from
Marie Hoehner. Keyes returned the favor in the 32
nd minute, finding Frattaroli for a goal to extend the Nor'easter advantage to 3-1.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the second period. UNE outshot Nichols 20-11 overall and 15-5 on goal.
Sydney Gillingham made four stops in the victory. Saige Frazier had 12 saves for the Bison.
The Nor'easters return to the field in their season finale at home on Tuesday against Endicott at 4 p.m.
