Statistics

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Endicott College logged a 26-11 scoring advantage in the middle two periods on the way to a 55-43 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball decision versus the University of New England at Coach Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum on Tuesday evening (Jan. 25).

The Gulls level the season series with the win, improving to 10-7 overall and 7-3 in league action. The Nor'easters (9-8) slip back to 7-3 in conference matches.

Sarah Dempsey topped Endicott with 18 points, 17 rebounds, and three blocks, while Emily St. Thomas chipped in with 13 points off the bench. Tara Laugeni recorded 11 points, and Olivia Duncan added six points along with 11 boards, helping a 51-43 edge on the glass. The Gulls overcame 34 percent shooting from the floor (18-of-53) and 21 turnovers, and out-scored the hosts by 10 (18-8) at the free throw line.

UNE received a double-double of 14 points and 11 caroms out of Jordyn Franzen; her fifth of the year. Allie Goodman and Juliana Tracey supported with nine and seven points, respectively. The Nor'easters struggled to find the range all for most of the night, connecting at a 23.5 percent clip on field goal attempts (16-for-68) and sinking only half of their 16 tries at the charity stripe.

Things were even at 11-all through 10 minutes, and back-to-back hoops from Dempsey in the 2nd quarter gave Endicott the lead for good (17-13). It was still a two-point game (20-18) before the visitors registered seven of the last eight -- capped by a trey from St. Thomas -- to grab a 27-19 cushion at the half.

The Gulls went 5-of-15 with nine turnovers in the 3rd, while UNE made just 1-of-12 shots and had six turnovers -- with that, the EC spread increased to 37-22. The Nor'easters started to zero in and hit 8-of-20 live-action looks during the 4th, however Endicott never let the spread dip below nine (39-30, 41-32), salting the game away with a 14-of-20 effort at the line.

UNE is slated to visit Salve Regina University (6-2 CCC) on Saturday.
