UNE competes at Husson Relays

BANGOR, Maine -- The University of New England women's swimming squad took part in the non-scoring Husson University Relays meet at Webber Pool on Saturday (Oct. 23), along with Maine Maritime Academy and Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

The 200-yard butterfly relay of Haley Griffin, Olivia Roy, Mary Washlick, and Katie Durrua captured first place with a time of 2:01.12 -- 0.64 ahead of the host Eagles.

In the 400 freestyle, the group of Griffin, Durrua, April Falstad, and Annika Doeppers clocked 4:05.63 to finish second behind Husson (-1.48).

Another combo taking second in an event was the 200 backstroke, as Griffin, Jess Russell, Korianne Moore, and Morgan Henderson touched in 2:06.84 -- just 0.35 off the pace of the Eagles. The Nor'easters also had third in the 200 back, with Taylor Gibson, Kheara Zito, Olivia Roy, and Maggie Sperry (2:09.12).

Caitlin Cournoyer, Falstad, Jamie Roy, and Sophie Piette were third in the 200 freestyle (1:55.23).

UNE is scheduled to host SJC on Friday (6 p.m.) for a dual scoring meet.
