Nor'easters top Anchorwomen in four sets

GORHAM, Maine -- Lauren Davenport and Viktoria Pavlyuk combined for 31 kills on 67 swings to pace the University of New England women's volleyball squad in a 3-1 win (25-8, 26-28, 25-16, 25-13) over Rhode Island College on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 16) at Hill Gymnasium on the campus of the University of Southern Maine.

It was the second UNE win over RIC in a span of seven days, after a sweep in Biddeford. The Nor'easters move to 8-11 on the year, while the Anchorwomen fall to 7-12.

Davenport had a match-best 17 kills and Pavlyuk's 14 came with a .407 hitting percentage. Stephanie Erickson and Adryona Miller each had eight winners in support of the UNE attack that got 42 assists out of Addie Miller, who also posted 11 digs and four aces. Morgan Lynch dropped in five service aces and Paige Weatherbee tallied four more, to go with her 22 digs.

Similar to last weekend, Amelia Murphy notched a double-double of 11 kills and 18 digs for Rhode Island College. Sydney Green had 13 assists and four aces.

The Nor'easters resume Commonwealth Coast Conference play on Tuesday at home against Suffolk University.
