Spotlight on football coordinators Kenny Treschitta, Tim Viall

Kenny Treschitta and Tim Viall serve as the defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively, for the University of New England football team. Treschitta, who was head coach Mike Lichten's first addition to the program four years ago, played for and graduated from The Catholic University of America, and also has a degree from McKendree University. Viall, who was added to the coaching staff early in 2019, earned all-conference accolades and a degree from Endicott College.

What factor(s) made you most want to work at UNE? What do you enjoy most about UNE?
KT: There was a unique opportunity to help build the football program here. I enjoy interacting and working with our football student-athletes the most. We have a great group.

What do you hope the UNE student-athletes learn from their interactions with you?
TV: I hope they find enjoyment in being present with their coaches and teammates. I hope they build an understanding that consistency in work ethic leads to great improvements over time.
KT: To learn life skills through the game of football.

What memorable moment(s) at UNE do you recall most often?
KT: Winning our first varsity game was a special moment for our student-athletes and coaching staff.

Why did you get into the profession and what has kept you in it?
TV: I entered this profession because of my love for the game of football. To be honest, I was not ready for my football career to be over upon graduating. Since entering the profession, the ability to interact with and impact the lives of student-athletes on a daily basis has been and will continue to be a rewarding experience.
KT: I wanted to have a positive impact on student-athletes through the game of football.

What is your favorite physical location on UNE's Biddeford campus?
KT: We have some of the best athletics facilities in the northeast.
TV: That's a close call between our strength and conditioning facility and the Ripich Commons, but I will go with our weight room.

What is the best professional advice you have received; something that you try to apply to each and every day?
TV: Work hard and have fun doing it. Never underestimate the impact we are having on our student-athletes.

What are you most looking forward to with our student-athletes?
TV: Getting back on the field and in the weight room with our talented student-athletes.

What activity(s) do you like to do away from campus that helps balance your life?
TV: Golf, walks with my wife/dog, yard work, and projects around the house.
KT: I enjoy reading and going to the beach.
