BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Fourth-ranked Bowdoin College raced out to a 24-9 cushion and never looked back in a 72-46 decision over the University of New England in women's basketball action Tuesday night (Nov. 26) at Morrell Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears (5-0) got 14 points and four steals from Samantha Roy. Maddie Hasson and Moira Train both notched 12 points and six rebounds; Hasson only played 11 minutes before exiting the contest with an injury, and Train did all her work from beyond the arc. Sela Kay tossed in 11 points for the hosts, who held UNE to 31 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers.
Abby Cavallaro led all players with 17 points for the Nor'easters (5-2), who have only fallen to highly-ranked foes.
Katrina Krenzer supported with nine points, while
Jocelyn Chaput registered seven points and a game-high eight boards.
Bowdoin closed the 1st quarter with a 20-5 stretch to take control, but UNE inched back in the 2nd to trail 34-22 at the break. The difference early in the 3rd was 10 until a 19-4 run broke things open.
The Nor'easters get back to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) slate next Wednesday (Dec. 4) at Endicott College.
