UNE women in 2nd for CCC All-Sports Trophy through fall; men 6th

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The University of New England currently possess 2nd place in the women's standings of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Sports Trophy, based on early results from the 2019-20 academic year. On the men's side, the Nor'easters sit in sixth out of the nine member institutions.

Endicott College leads the women's competition with an 8.00 average, ahead of UNE (7.38) and Roger Williams University (7.20). The Nor'easters sponsor four of the five CCC sports during the season, and were one of the four different institutions to capture a league crown (soccer).

The UNE women have finished either second (three times) or third (three times) over the six years of the trophy's existance.

For the men, UNE claimed one of the three conference championships (cross country) and settled on a 4.83 average. Wentworth Institute of Technology (7.50), Endicott College (7.33), and Nichols College (6.33) top the list.

The conference all-sports trophy was introduced in 2013-14 and is awarded annually to the institution that performs the best across the board in league competition. Points are awarded based on CCC tournament championships (9 points) and tournament runner-up finishes (8 points), followed by the regular-season position (7 points, etc.) in the standings for the remaining teams. The final average score is then determined by dividing the total points by the number of CCC sports sponsored by that institution.
