BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Emily Pratt tallied 18 of her game-high 23 points following halftime as Endicott College secured a 71-60 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball result against the University of New England on Wednesday evening (Jan. 16) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Gulls (11-6) take sole possession of the top line in the league standings at 7-1, while the Nor'easters (8-8) slip back to 6-2 in CCC outings.

Pratt didn't miss a shot in the final 20 minutes, which included four treys. She also recorded five rebounds, five steals, and four assists in the game. Kaleigh Putnam added 18 points, and Catie Lipscomb tossed in 14 to go with a team-high nine caroms. Emma Tierney collected eight points, seven blocks, and six rebounds before fouling out.

The visitors shot 38 percent from the field in the match (21-for-55), and posted a 14-point cushion at the line (23-9). Although UNE knocked down 13-of-35 three-pointers (37 percent), its overall clip was 27 percent (19-for-71) and the hosts came up empty on eight freebies.

Abby Cavallaro topped the Nor'easters with a personal-best 20 points that included six triples, and had five rebounds and four steals, as well. Prior to fouling out, Jocelyn Chaput garnered 13 points and nine boards, and Elyssa Nicholas supported with 10 points.

UNE benefited from eight Endicott turnovers in the opening period, and Nicholas scored five late to give her side a 16-10 advantage. The Gulls began the 2nd with nine unanswered, but the Nor'easters closed with seven of the last nine to gain a 28-25 edge at intermission.

Momentum in the 3rd swung back-and-forth. Lipscomb spurred EC forward with seven points early in the frame as the Gulls went up 38-31. UNE, however, countered with an 11-3 run of its own -- backed by a pair of three's from Cavallaro -- to nudge in front at 42-41. But Endicott, which converted 61.5 percent of its field goals in the stanza, took control for good (50-42) with a 9-0 spurt from Pratt and Putnam.

The hosts reduced the deficit to as little as six with 4:31 and 0:55 remaining in the 4th, but the Gulls dropped 8-of-10 free throws in the waning moments to seal it.

UNE welcomes in Roger Williams University (5-3 CCC) for a conference contest on Saturday (12 p.m.).
