Hawks edge Nor'easters, 6-4

CLERMONT, Fla. -- Becker College scored twice in the 3rd inning and three more times in the 4th to come away with a 6-4 softball result against the University of New England on Tuesday morning (Mar. 13) in the Dot Richardson Spring Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.

Megan Klemanchuck drove in three runs for the Hawks (2-3) with two hits, including a two-RBI double that made it 5-2 with two out in the top of the 4th. Samantha Belenchia also had two hits for the offense, and Rebecca Carkhuff scored once to go with an RBI-double. Samantha Lee pitched her side to the win, striking out five and surrendering two earned runs.

Sydnee Bessler whiffed nine in defeat for the Nor'easters (1-4).

Sam Dreissig provided UNE with a 1-0 lead in the 1st with a single that scored Avery Alberghini. The pair factored in making it 2-2 during the 3rd, with the help of an error.

Alberghini crossed home plate for a third time in the 7th, after lacing a triple for her second hit of the match. Meg Harvey followed with an RBI-single, but back-to-back flyouts ended the rally attempt.

Caty Flagg had a hit and scored the other run for the Nor'easters.
