BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England women's basketball team led from start-to-finish in a 94-38 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology on Tuesday evening (Dec. 4) at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Winners of back-to-back games for the first time this season, the Nor'easters (4-5, 2-0 CCC) struck for the initial 11 points in just over three minutes to seize control.
Sadie Nelson tallied nine of those.
Abby Cavallaro poured in five three-pointers for a game-high 15 points, and distributed five assists. UNE had four more in double figures, receiving 13 from
Elyssa Nicholas, 11 out of both Nelson and
Ashley Coneys, and 10 from
Allie Goodman.
Sabrina Johnson chipped in with nine points.
The hosts posted a 53-27 advantage on the boards, led by eight from
Madalyn Sanborn. The Nor'easters assisted of 26 of 31 baskets in the contest, and shot nearly 50 percent (14-of-29) from long distance.
For the Leopards (0-8, 0-3 CCC), Molley Duclos and Erin Morton put up eight points apiece.
UNE will visit the University of New Hampshire on Thursday (7 p.m.) for an exhibition outing against the Division I Wildcats.
