BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Connecticut College clipped the University of New England by a 61-54 margin in women's basketball action Saturday evening (Nov. 17) at the Hampton Inn Tip-Off Tournament began inside the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Camels (1-0) advance into Sunday's 3 p.m. event final and will face Worcester Polytechnic Institute (a 69-57 winner over Bridgewater State University). The Nor'easters (1-2) will get the Bears for a 1 p.m. start.

The tightly-contested match was even at 47-47 with six minutes remaining, before Kylie Caouette canned a triple and Sami Ashton added a hoop to establish a five-point cushion for Conn. College. The spread reached seven (56-49) moments later, and never dipped below four the rest of the way.

UNE had put together an 8-0 spurt in the 3rd to gain it largest lead of the game at 37-35, only to see the Camels counter with the last seven of the frame -- including a pair of treys by Caouette.

Ashton tallied 15 points and seven rebounds for the visitors, while Margaret Corcoran equaled that point total behind 5-of-6 shooting from the field. Caouette contributed 11 points and Dan Muckstadt grabbed a game-best 12 boards.

Connecticut College overcame 21 turnovers by hitting 46 percent (22-for-48) from the floor and 9-of-20 (45%) outside the three-point arc.

Ashley Coneys registered a contest-high 16 points for the Nor'easters prior to fouling out, and Jocelyn Chaput added 15 to go with seven caroms. Sabrina Johnson went for 10 points and six rebounds, and Abby Cavallaro knocked down three from deep to end with nine points and three steals.

UNE out-scored the Camels by five at the charity stripe (13-8), but was hampered by 32 percent field-goal accuracy (18-for-56).
