NORTON, Mass. -- Wheaton College received 14 kills from Adara Hamilton and 10 more out of Claire Cansler on the way to a 3-0 result (28-26, 25-22, 25-21) against the University of New England women's volleyball team on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 13) at Emerson Gymnasium.
The Lyons (21-3) survived the close battle with the aid of their defensive effort, as six different players reached double figures in digs. Becca Houghton had 37 assists to pair with a team-high 17 digs, joining the double-double status of Hamilton, who contributed 16 saves on the back end. Cat MacGregor, Nikita Selivan, Sabrina Buxeda, and Maggie Shafer combined for 48 more.
Leading the Nor'easters (8-14) was
Rene Roggenbuck with 13 kills and two solo blocks.
Sydney Christiansen registered 29 assists to go with 11 digs in support of a match-best 23 digs by
Katie Marsh.
Katie Flynn tacked on eight kills with 13 digs, and
Molly Camelo pulled up another 15 along the back line.
UNE travels to Endicott College for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) date on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
