Kelly Murphy launched a 2nd-inning grand slam and
Abby Lambert nailed a three-run shot in the 4th as the University of New England cruised to an 11-1 victory over Framingham State University in five innings on Thursday morning (Mar. 17) at the Dot Richardson Spring Softball Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.
Three straight wins have the Nor'easters at 6-3 on the young season. The Rams fall back to 1-6 so far this year.
Amanda Vallante and Murphy had RBI-singles in the 1st, and Vallante drove in a pair with two down in the 2nd before Murphy established an 8-1 cushion two batters later.
Vallante went 3-for-3 with three runs scored in the contest. Lambert and
Avery Alberghini each scored twice.
Katelyn Austin allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the 1st and scattered five hits while striking out three in four innings of work.
Kelsi Gunarathne was charged with the loss for Framinghim State.
