Melissa Sprague teamed up to toss seven without allowing a hit as the University of New England notched a 6-0 win over the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Thursday afternoon (Mar. 17) at the Dot Richardson Spring Softball Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.
The Nor'easters conclude their Florida trip with four consecutive victories to reach 7-3.
Burnham worked the initial four innings, retiring the first 10 UWSP batters while fanning three against one walk, and Sprague went three innings with four strikeouts and one hit-by-pitch.
Meanwhile, UNE scored in each of the first three frames to get out to a 5-0 cushion.
Kelly Murphy went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs.
Amanda Vallante had two hits and an RBI.
Sydney Helmbrecht,
Lauren Jones, and
Andrea Gosper contributed a hit, a run, and an RBI apiece.
Maddie Durie took the loss for the Pointers, who fall to 2-5 on the season.
