Box ScoreCLERMONT, Fla. -- The University of New England turned four hits and a walk in the top of the 7th into three runs and held on for a 6-4 victory over Wesleyan University (Conn.) on Wednesday morning (Mar. 16) at the Dot Richardson Spring Softball Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.
Lauren Jones,
Abby Lambert, and
Kelly Murphy each had an RBI in the deciding frame to lift the Nor'easters (4-3) in front.
Lambert conceded two hits and a run in the bottom of the 7th, but secured the next three outs to get the result in the circle.
The Cardinals (9-4) gained a 2-1 edge in the 2nd as Wieners and Roosa started the at-bat with doubles and scored.
UNE bounced right back in the 3rd, with a lead-off single by
Avery Alberghini, a triple by
Caroline Schoenbucher, and a groundout by Jones to make it 3-2.
Wieners and Roosa recorded one-out hits in the 6th to level the game at 3-all.
Alberghini had three hits and two runs for the Nor'easters, while Lambert, Murphy, and Schoenbucher had two hits apiece.
Kantor took the loss for Wesleyan in one inning of work.
