CLERMONT, Fla. -- Amanda Vallante drove in three runs and Sydnee Bessler pitched six innings while giving up one run as the University of New England defeated The College of New Jersey, 5-1, on Wednesday (Mar. 16) at the Dot Richardson Spring Softball Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.

Vallante, Abby Lambert, and Avery Alberghini each had two hits for the Nor'easters (5-3), and Alberghini scored twice. Bessler struck out a pair while scattering six hits and no walks over six innings.

Levine and Purcell registered two hits for the Lions (6-5). The duo got TCNJ on the board with one out in the 4th and a double followed by a single.

UNE led 2-0 after the 1st and 3-0 through the 3rd, before a two-out, two-RBI double in the 5th by Vallante rounded out the scoring.

Hourihan took the loss for TCNJ.
