Quick start carries Wesleyan to 7-3 win over UNE

CLERMONT, Fla. -- Wesleyan University jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings on the way to a 7-3 victory over the University of New England on Wednesday morning (Mar. 18) at the Dot Richardson Spring Softball Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.

The Cardinals (5-6) received two hits apiece from Isabel Linzer, Mollie Grunat, Susan Pardo, and Annalie Walsh-Costello to pace the offense. Pardo drove in a pair and Linzer scored twice. Julie McDonald fanned seven and gave up one earned run to get the win.

For UNE (3-4), Kelly Murphy and Sydney Helmbrecht each had two hits. Mollie Bartles knocked in a pair to get the Nor'easters on the board (5-2) in the 4th frame. Katelyn Austin took the loss in the circle.
