Box ScoreCLERMONT, Fla. -- Led by a 4-for-4 performance at the plate by
Adrienne Chase, the University of New England racked up 16 hits on the way to an 8-4 triumph over Lesley University on Wednesday (Mar. 18) at the Dot Richardson Spring Softball Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.
Chase was also one of three players to drive in two runs for the Nor'easters (4-4), joined by
Sydney Helmbrecht and
Amanda Vallante. Helmbrecht,
Meghan Bolano, and
Mollie Bartles recorded two hits apiece, while Helmbrecht, Bolano, and
Ashlee Roy each scored twice.
Abby Lambert, who struck out five over six innings of work for the win, helped support the offense with a 2nd-inning solo home run.
The Lynx (1-5) received a two-hit, two-RBI, and two-run performance out of Mekenzi Golden. Allison Fountain had two hits as well; Selena Quezada scored a pair. Jordan Thomas lasted a little more than one inning in taking the loss.
UNE notched the first three runs of the contest and led 4-2 through four frames. Big Blue tacked on four more in the bottom of the 5th with run-scoring base hits from
Paige Moore-Haskell, Helmbrecht, and Chase (2 RBI).
Chase is the 21st player in the recent history of the program to finish with four hits in as many at-bats in a game.
