Wildcats rally for 4-set win over Nor'easters

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- After dropping the opening set, Johnson & Wales University captured the next three frames to down the University of New England in non-conference women's volleyball action Saturday morning (Sep. 13) at JWU's Wildcat Classic. Set scores were 23-25, 25-19, 25-15, and 25-17.

The Wildcats (2-6) put down 51 kills in the match, led by Paula Cadavid with 14, Lauren Cordts with 13, and Alyssa Drapeau with 11 (also 12 digs). Marissa Bunnewith had three solo blocks and assisted on four others. Kellen Tensen tallied 45 assists to pace the attack, and Kaitlin Kuntz registered a contest-high 18 digs.

Big Blue (2-6) received a double-double out of sophomore Grayson Szczepaniak, going for 13 kills and 12 digs. Senior Leah Janelle added nine kills and nine digs, and first-year Courtney Lambrese contributed seven winners. First-year Brooke Gibbons went for 28 assists.

The two teams will meet again at noon for the event's consolation match.
