Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) backed up her career high in kills from the previous match with another 22 versus Rivier College, as the University of New England women's volleyball squad battled to a five-set triumph in a non-league contest Saturday afternoon (Sep. 8) -- the second of three at the Roger Williams University Invitational. Set scores were 25-22, 19-25, 25-20, 22-25, and 17-15.
The win brought an end to a four-game streak of setbacks to the Raiders, and was just UNE's second in the last 10 meetings between the teams.
Big Blue (4-0) also received solid efforts from a trio of juniors -- 10 kills and nine blocks from junior
Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.);
Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) dialed up 39 assists; and
Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) totaled 15 digs.
Curran had an additional five solo blocks for the Nor'easters.
