Curran guides Nor'easters past Polytechnic, 3-1

BRISTOL, R.I. -- Senior Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) notched career highs of 22 kills and five solo blocks to power the University of New England attack to a 3-1 victory over Polytechnic University in the first of three women's volleyball matches Saturday (Sep. 8) at the Roger Williams University Invitational. Set scores were 23-25, 25-18, 25-21, and 25-8.

With the win, the Nor'easters improve to 3-0 on the young season. It was also the first triumph for UNE against the Fighting Blue Jays in four meetings at the RWU Invite.

Junior Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.) added a dozen kills and three solo blocks to the cause, while classmate Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) set-up the offense with 37 assists to go with 10 digs.

Junior Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and senior Jackie Stone (Saginaw, Mich.) picked up 20 and 13 digs, respectively, for Big Blue.
