BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Senior Sara Shea (Peabody, Mass.) won three events to propel the University of New England women's swim team to a 147-108 victory over Western New England University Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.

The win is the fifth in five dual meets for the Nor'easters, who match the start of UNE's 2006-07 squad for the best in program history. The Golden Bears fall to 1-4 on the season.

Shea got the Nor'easters off to a quick start by winning two of the first five events. She bested the field in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:00.93 then took first in the 50-yard breaststroke, completing the race in a time of 34.45. She completed a hat-trick by taking the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:13.21.

Junior Amy Miele (Queensbury, N.Y.) took first place in both the 50-yard backstroke (30.38) and the 100-yard individual medley. Her time of 1:06.20 in the IM established a Campus Center pool record.

Also winning a pair of events was first-year Jenn LaComfora (Worcester, Mass.), who was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle (27.61) and 50-yard butterfly (28.73).

The Nor'easters also received first-place finishes from senior Jessica Sweeney (Hampton, N.H.) and juniors Rachel Hanley (Wiscasset, Maine) and Meaghan Arsenault (Methuen, Mass.). Sweeney won the 100-yard fly (1:08.49), Hanley the 100-yard free (1:00.57), and Arsenault the 500-yard freestyle (6:07.66).

Miele and Arsenault teamed up with senior Lizzie Wareham (Osterville, Mass.) and sophomore Patrice Tetu (Brunswick, Maine) to take the 200-yard medley relay.

Junior Danielle Caron (Marlborough, Mass.) claimed a pair of victories for the Golden Bears -- the 200-yard freestyle (2:16.19) and 100-yard backstroke (1:08.25).

UNE is off until after the holidays when they travel to Lewiston for a tri-meet with Bates College and Norwich University. That event is slated for Jan. 7 at 3 p.m.
