PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- The University of New England women's volleyball team used a balanced attack to pull out a five set victory, 3-2, over Eastern Connecticut State University in a non-conference match played Saturday afternoon at Plymouth State's Foley Gymnasium. Set scores were 26-24, 26-28, 25-19, 21-25, and 15-11.
Each of the first four frames were tightly contested, featuring numerous ties and lead changes. The Nor'easters, however, seized control of the fifth set right from the start to win their seventh straight match, and improve to 14-11 on the year. ECSU, which defeated Big Blue (3-0) just two weeks ago, settles on a 16-9 overall mark. The decision marked the end of a four-match UNE losing streak to the Warriors.

Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the way with 15 kills and a hitting percentage of .500 in the match. First-year
Leah Janelle (Madbury, N.H.) chipped in with 11 kills, to go along with 18 digs and three aces. Sophomore
Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.) added 10 kills and three aces.

Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) tallied 32 assists to guide the attack, and defensively dug up 19 balls. Classmate
Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) notched a match-best 26 digs, while senior
Abby Davis (Somersworth, N.H.) and junior
Jackie Stone (Saginaw, Mich.) went for 22 and 19 digs, respectively. Davis also had three solo blocks.

Big Blue concludes the regular-season next week with a pair of home conference outings, starting with a match against Eastern Nazarene College on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
