Marcus Winn (Austin, Texas) added a free throw with 17 seconds on the clock to turn a two-point deficit into a 73-71 win for the University of New England over Roger Williams University in The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Campus Rec Center.
Tied 65-65 at the end of regulation, Hawks sophomore Gary Madison (Waterbury, Conn.) put the hosts in front by two.
Winn gave the Nor'easters the lead on the next possession, connecting from long distance after a missed shot and offensive rebound by Foti. A pair of free throws by RWU sophomore Pat Flanagan (Somerville, Mass.) and one from Foti leveled the score at 69-all with 2:42 to play.
Madison put the Hawks back on top with 1:15 to go in overtime, but after Foti's trey, Roger Williams came up empty on its final three possessions as UNE came away with the victory.

Keith Beasley (Austin, Texas) tallied nine of his 11 in the first half, before fouling out with five minutes left in regulation.
Foti notched eight of his 10 after halftime, and sophomore
Quentin Thompson (Austin, Texas) finished with nine points, 12 rebounds, and four steals.
As a team, UNE had 14 steals on 24 RWU turnovers. Big Blue only committed 11 turnovers of their own.
Madison totaled a team-high 19 points for the Hawks (11-10, 3-6 TCCC), to go along with six boards, seven assists, and three blocks. Junior Corey Fava (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) registered 12 of his 15 points in the second half, and Flanagan added 10.
The Nor'easters came out strong in the early stages of the contest, going up by as many as 11 on three occasions during the middle portion of the first half before settling on a 30-25 halftime cushion.
Roger Williams tied things up at 39 by the 12:41 mark on the second period, and, after exchanging baskets as well as the lead over a five-minute span, the contest was still knotted at 49-49.
The Hawks took control over the ensuing five minutes, three times pushing the margin to five -- the final time coming with 2:51 remaining in the half (62-57).
UNE sophomore
Anthony Johnson (Austin, Texas) followed up a made free throw with a three-pointer on the following possession at 2:29 to start an 8-0 run that put the visitors ahead, 65-62, inside the final minute.
Fava struck right back with 36 ticks left, draining one from deep to force five extra minutes.
Roger Williams shot 59.1 percent (13-for-22) in the second stanza, and made half of its six three-point attempts to get back into the game.
For the game, the Hawks held a 46-31 rebounding advantage.
Both teams return to action Tuesday, as the Nor'easters entertain Endicott College (8 p.m.) and RWU plays host to Anna Maria College.
