WESTON, Mass. -- Junior Brittany White (Dorchester, Mass.) drained a three-pointer with one second remaining to give Regis College a 56-54 win over the University of New England in The Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball action Thursday evening at the Regis Athletic Arena.

Trailing 48-41 with 5:21 to play, the Pride scored 10 unanswered points -- five from senior Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.) -- in 1:58 to grab their first lead since the 15:39 mark of the opening period.

UNE countered with six straight points in 1:35 to go up 54-51 with 73 seconds left in regulation.

Sophomore Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) connected on a jumper on the next possession to bring Regis to within one (54-53). After a pair of free throws failed to drop for the Nor'easters, the Pride got the ball back with 17 ticks on the clock, setting up White's game-winning shot.

Winners of four straight, Regis (11-7) now pulls even with UNE atop the league standings as part of a four-way tie at 5-1. The Nor'easters, who lost for the first time since December 8 (9 games), fall to 14-4 overall. Regis has won two of the last three meetings between the teams, after dropping seven in-a-row from the 2000-01 through 2006-07.

Page led the Pride with 16 points and 14 boards, while White finished with 11 and eight. Crawford and classmate Meagan Tobin (Quincy, Mass.) tallied 10 points apiece for Regis, which travels to Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday.

Sophomore Margo Russell (Madison, Maine) scored a game-high 17 points to pace UNE, tallying 13 in the first half. Senior Katie Diggins (Merrimack, N.H.) recorded a double-double on the night, with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

UNE led 26-21 at intermission, only to see its advantage disappear in the first 45 seconds of the final stanza following a Tobin trey and White basket.

The Nor'easters scored the next nine points in 3:20 to claim their largest lead of the game at 35-26 with 15:14 to go -- a lead they held for another 12 minutes of action.

Regis shot 35.5 percent (11-for-31) after halftime, while UNE, which visits Western New England College on Saturday at 1 p.m., converted only 26.9 percent (7 of 26) of its shot attempts in the second half.
