QUINCY, Mass. -- First-year guard Max Barbosa (Dorchester, Mass.) made five treys en route to 29 points as Eastern Nazarene College topped the University of New England, 71-64, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball action Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
Trailing 34-26 at the break, the Lions made half (17 of 34) of their field goal attempts in the second half to rally for the win. UNE converted just 27.3 percent (9 of 33) during that time.
Sophomore forward Quentin Thompson (Austin, Texas) had 19 points, nine rebounds and five steals for UNE. Junior guard Chas Rentrope (Peoria, Ariz.) scored 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting, while sophomore guard Anthony Johnson (Austin, Texas) added 12 points and six steals.
ENC won despite being forced into 28 turnovers. The Lions held a commanding 57-38 advantage on the backboard to aid in the victory.
After starting the season 0-10, Eastern Nazarene won for the fourth time in six outings to improve to 4-12 (2-2 TCCC). The victory snapped a four-game losing streak versus UNE.
The Nor'easters, who host Anna Maria College on Saturday at 3 p.m., drop to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in league play.
