Nor'easters run to title at Blazer Invitational

First-year Bosco Oringa offered a strong 7th-place finish in the Nor'easters' victory

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country team placed five runners in the Top 10 en route to a meet victory at the Elms College Blazer Invitational on Saturday.  The victory was the Nor'easters' first team win in five seasons.

UNE tallied 28 points to ease past Lesley College, which finished with 56 points. Newbury College (63) and Elms (118) rounded out the scoring teams.

Matt Veiga placed third (28:41) for UNE.  Bosco Oringa (7th - 30:38), Josh Havelin (8th - 30:42), Dan Kelleher (9th - 30:50) and Josh Grenier (10th - 31:05) sealed championship honors for the Nor'easters.

Newbury senior Herrel Siller cruised to victory in a time of 27:45 to break his previous meet-record set last season by 24 seconds.

UNE returns to competition next Saturday at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College (11:30 a.m.).
