Veiga, UNE show strong at Pop Crowell Invitational

WENHAM, Mass. -- University of New England sophomore Matt Veiga finished 10th to help the Nor'easters place sixth out of 24 teams at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College on Saturday.

Veiga ran a strong 27:14 for eight kilometers to finish in the Top 10 of a race with 232 finishers.  Josh Grenier (45th - 28:44) and Bosco Oringa (47th - 28:48) also cracked the Top 50 for the Nor'easters.

Other UNE scorers included Dan Kelleher (75th - 29:37) and Josh Havelin (79th - 29:43).

The University of Southern Maine Huskies won the event with a team score of 58, while Kevin Clark of Roger Williams University was the individual champion.

The Nor'easters race the Roger Williams Invitational next Saturday at Colt State Park.
