BIDDEFORD, Maine -- In The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball action at the Campus Center, Johnathan Bowers '08 (Kalamazoo, Mich.) and Tim Jones '08 (Brookline, Mass.) combined to score 47 points, lifting Curry College to an 85-74 victory over the University of New England Tuesday evening.

The Colonels improve to 5-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Nor'easters slide to 7-7 overall, 1-1 in TCCC games.

The 6'10" Bowers was dominant in the first half, scoring 13 points, grabbing five rebounds and blocking four shots to help Curry establish a 38-31 cushion.  The Colonels shot 53.1 percent (17 of 32) from the floor in the frame, including a 4-of-9 performance from beyond the arc.

The Nor'easters would chip away in the second half and pulled to within four (48-44) on a lay-up by #Isaac Stickney# '08 (Rumford, Maine) with 13:38 remaining.

Curry would reel off six straight points to regain control.  The Colonels led by seven or more points the rest of the way.

Bowers ended the evening with game highs of 26 points, 10 boards and six rejections.  Jones tossed in 21 points to go with five assists and three steals.  He was 3 of 6 from 3-point land.  James Bartelle '08 (Washington, D.C.) came off the bench to hit three 3-pointers and finish with 17 points.

Curry was 32 of 59 (54.2 percent) from the floor for the game, including 8 of 17 (47.1 percent) on its attempts from deep.

#Jaykyri Simpson# '09 (East Cleburne, Texas) played a strong game for the Nor'easters, scoring 25 points (13 of 18 at the line) and collaring a team-best nine rebounds.  #Steve Belmonte# '09 (Levittown, N.Y.) scored 15 points, #Johnnie Jefferson# '09 (Dallas, Texas) 14, and Stickney 12.

The Colonels return to play Saturday when they take on Regis College in a home game beginning at 3:00 p.m.  The Nor'easters are idle until Saturday when they entertain Salve Regina University at the Campus Center.  Tip time is 3:00 p.m.
