Caldwell played four seasons for NCAA Division I Cornell University, where he was a two-year starter on the front line and ranks among the career leaders in assists. He has also played with the Central Jersey Spartans in the Premier Development League (PDL).

Education
Caldwell earned a bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in music from Cornell in 2012.
