Claflin appeared in 26 games over four seasons (2015-18) at Bates College [NCAA III]. He spent the middle two years as a defensive back, totaling 53 tackles and a pair of interceptions. He transitioned to the offensive side in 2018, completing eight passes for 101 yards, rushing for 16, and gaining 66 yards on eight receptions. Claflin graduated from Bates in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in sociology.
