BIDDEFORD, Maine – An offensive explosion from the University of New England women's soccer team saw the Nor'easters run away with a 9-3 victory over Lasell University on Sunday afternoon at Blue Storm Stadium.
 
UNE, improving to 3-0 on the season, matched its single-game high in goals from a season ago (nine against Thomas on October 4, 2025). Jill Hodgson led the attack with a hat trick – the first from a Nor'easter since Tori Keyes accomplished the feat in a 4-0 win at Suffolk during the 2024 season. (Watch Hodgson's final goal)
 
Hodgson was just one of five different scorers featured by UNE in Sunday's rout. Emily Talbot scored the game's first two goals (Watch 1/Watch 2), both of which came in the opening 10 minutes, and picked up three assists to finish with seven points. Reagan Dillon scored twice, Silvi Strong netted the first of her career (Watch), and Gillian McGee rounded out the barrage, matching Hodgson for the team lead on the season with four.
 
Sunday's win was the 50th in the career of head coach AJ Stueck, which also includes two seasons of competition at Eastern University.
 
Having outscored opponents 17-6 through the first three games, the Nor'easters are off to their first 3-0 start since 2021.
 
"I'm really pleased with the chemistry and unselfish play on offense," Stueck said. "With three games in six days, our depth once again made the difference. Emily and Jill were terrific today, and I'm happy to see Silvi add her first career goal."
 
Goalkeeper Sam Kowalick made her first career start and allowed two first-half goals. Haley Coombs played the second half and surrendered just the game's final goal in the 83rd minute.
 
The Lasers (1-1) hung around after going down 3-0 by the 10:07 mark, eventually trailing 4-2 late in the first half. Strong's goal was the first of three from UNE in the 12 minutes leading up to halftime, sending the Nor'easters into the second half with a convincing 6-2 lead.
 
Shots on goal sided 13-5 with UNE, and total shots were 22-12, though Lasell had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
 
The Nor'easters look to remain perfect on Wednesday, Sept. 9 when they visit Southern Maine for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
