GORHAM, Maine -- The University of New England women's tennis team dropped a grand total of eight games across seven matches and chalked up a 7-0 victory versus the University of Southern Maine on Saturday (Sep. 5), inside the Costello Sports Complex.
With the Huskies (0-1) playing shorthanded by one player, the Nor'easters (2-0) needing just one of the doubles contests to take the opening point, and
Madeline Frank with
Grace Catalano came through with a 6-1 result at #1 doubles. The duo of
Olivia Crooker and
Leanna Matczak logged a 6-2 outcome at #2 doubles, for good measure.
Frank (8-2),
Nora Hill (8-1),
Andie Lamontagne (8-0),
Sofia Salcedo Ladaga (8-1), and
Alyssa Fritschka (8-1) rattled off #1 through #5 singles, respectively, to round out the sweep, following the USM forfeit on the number six line. Lamontagne still hasn't yielded a game in singles this season.
UNE has a week to prepare for what should now be its home opener next Saturday, when the University of Maine-Augusta visits Blue Cyclone Complex for a 1:30 p.m. date.
