DUDLEY, Mass. -- Nichols College turned in its ninth consecutive Conference of New England (CNE) win with a 6-1 decision against the University of New England on Saturday (Apr. 18) at the Robinson Tennis Courts.
The Bison -- four-time reigning CNE champs -- improve to 11-6-1 overall and 10-1 in league play, which is tied for first place in the standings. After a correction applied to UNE's April 9 match versus Suffolk University, the Nor'easters move to 5-8 on the year and finish their first go at the conference docket with a 4-7 ledger.
Nichols tallied the doubles point with relative ease, and checked off wins in the last three singles matches to seal the result.

Liam Miller tried to rally at #2 singles but ultimately took a 6-1, 6-4 setback. At #3 singles,
Franco Leehive claimed the first set with a tiebreak shutout (7-0), before Nichols' Ezra Raphael took the second frame (6-1) and then the super tiebreak (10-6) for the match.
The Nor'easters picked up their lone point with the effort of
Drake Turcotte at #1 singles. He battled to a lead in a first-set tiebreaker, and then a quick start to propelled him to a straight-set victory (7-6 [7-5], 6-4). Turcotte now holds an 8-5 individual record in his rookie campaign on the top line for UNE.
The Nor'easter will close out the season on Monday in Biddeford against Salem State University.
