NEW LONDON, N.H. -- Colby-Sawyer College needed a rally at #1 singles to chalk up a 7-0 Conference of New England (CNE) men's tennis decision against the University of New England on Wednesday (Apr. 15) at the Kelsey Courts.
The Chargers (10-10, 6-3 CNE) picked up the doubles point with wins at #2 and #3 doubles, but had to work a little more for the top duo to get by
Liam Miller and
Franco Leehive, 6-3.
Drake Turcotte battled with CSC number one, Zsombor Homonnay, to decide the final point of the day. Turcotte claimed the opening set, 7-5, before Homonnay came back with a 6-4 outcome in the second. With the overall match settled already, they went to a super tiebreaker, which Homonnay escaped by a 10-6 margin.
Leehive also took three games in the first set at #3 singles.
The Nor'easters (4-7, 3-6) will return home to welcome in Wentworth Institute of Technology for a key match on Friday (3 p.m.).
