DANBURY, Conn. -- In its first competition of the spring season, the University of New England women's tennis team breezed to a 7-0 victory over Western Connecticut State University at the Westside Tennis Courts on Monday (Apr. 13).
The Nor'easters (12-6) got things started with a 6-3 win at #1 doubles by
Madeline Frank and
Andie Lamontagne, and then
Zoe Lambke and
Olivia Crooker secured the first point with a 6-4 result at #2 doubles.
Lamontagne, Frank, and
Alyssa Fritschka cruised to straight-set triumphs at #2, #1, and #3 singles, respectively, to put the visitors over the top. Lamontagne blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, while Frank and Fritschka only surrendered one game in their matches.
Sydney Pelletier added a 6-2, 7-5 decision at #4 singles for UNE, and the Wolves (4-14) forfeited the last two lines of the contest.
UNE will be headed for Simmons University on Thursday.
