Statistics

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Emma Collingwood and Ella Cloutier scored five goals apiece – both career highs – to help lead the University of New England women's lacrosse team to its first Conference of New England victory, 14-7, on the road over Johnson & Wales University on Saturday.

The Nor'easters (3-4, 1-1), never trailing on Saturday, took control in the first half with a 4-0 run that helped turn a 2-2 first-quarter tie into a 7-3 halftime lead. Three of those momentum-swinging tallies came from Collingwood, who scored four in the first half. Cloutier's damage was done later, with four second-half tallies as UNE maintained at least a six-goal cushion throughout the fourth quarter. Her five-goal performance comes after a three-goal effort in Tuesday's win at Ave Maria.

Molly Henderson racked up six assists, the most by a UNE player in a single game since Brooke Kelleher's eight on March 25, 2017 against Nichols.

Sydney Balotin scored three goals and added an assist to move further up the Nor'easters' career points list – she is now fifth with 155, having entered the game tied for sixth.

The Wildcats' (1-5, 0-2) seven goals came from seven different scorers, including Cassie Burke, who recorded a game-high five draw controls. JWU earned a slim 12-11 advantage in draw controls, but committed 22 turnovers – five more compared to the Nor'easters.

Olivia Ferraro made eight saves for UNE, while Anna Barber recorded five while allowing 12 goals, handling the vast majority of minutes for the Wildcats. Kylie O'Keefe made one save and surrendered two goals in the final 8:08 for JWU.

Two of UNE's first-half goals, capping off the 4-0 run, came just 10 seconds apart with Collingwood scoring on a player-up opportunity at the 9:50 mark of the second quarter, then Cloutier winning the ensuing draw and chalking up her first goal of the day in a make-it-take-it sequence for the Nor'easters.

UNE later put together a 5-0 run between the end of the second quarter and the majority of the third to earn its largest lead of the day, 11-3.

The Nor'easters' CNE slate continues Saturday, March 28 with a 1 p.m. game at Western New England University.
