BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Liza Pinette curled a right-footed shot from the edge of the box into the top-right corner in the 20th minute, and that was all Western New England University needed to secure a 1-0 result versus the University of New England in Conference of New England (CNE) women's soccer action Saturday afternoon (Oct. 3) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
Quality scoring chances were few and far between for both sides in the contest, which placed the Golden Bears (6-2) at 3-0 in league games and set the Nor'easters (6-4) back to 1-3 in the CNE.
Possession in the front half of the field favored the hosts, but only two sequences amounted to shots on target, and those were collected by WNEU goalkeeper Ainsley Napolitano.
Total shot attempts settled at 10-9 for UNE, which received one stop out of
Haley Coombs.
The Nor'easters are slated to entertain Curry College on Wednesday (4 p.m.).
