BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Connecticut College, the No.15 men's soccer team in the country, struck for three goals in a span of 2:16 early in the 2nd half on the way to a 3-0 decision against the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 17) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
After 45 minutes with only one combined shot on goal, the Camels (8-2-2) first connected the dots in the 53rd minute. Marco Perugini notched the first of three assists, with an end-line chip into the middle that Charlie Emery knocked in. A through-ball from Perugini sent Devin Kellan on a break in the 53rd minute, and the low shot to the far side just squeezed under the glove of the UNE keeper. Perugini was in the middle of a 55th-minute give-and-go with Jayden Fokuo, who lofted the ball from outside the right edge of the box into the upper left corner of the net.
The Nor'easters (3-9-4) received a total of five saves between
Landon Dominski (68 minutes) and
Jay Weingarten.
Conn. College wound up with an 18-1 advantage in total shot attempts, and all eight corner kicks. Connor Smith did not need to make a save to secure the visiting result.
