Results

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England Nor'easters won for the fourth consecutive outing to improve their record to 7-1 with a 5-2 result over Suffolk University in a Conference of New England (CNE) women's tennis match played Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 30) at Blue Cyclone Complex.

The triumph upped the Nor'easters' conference mark to 3-1 in their inaugural varsity season. Three CNE teams sit atop the standings with unblemished records, with UNE and Endicott tied behind that trio.

UNE set the tone early, grabbing the doubles point behind wins by the tandems of Madeline Frank and Nora Hill at the #1 spot (6-4), along with Sydney Pelletier and Zoe Lambke at #3 (6-2).

Andie Lamontagne picked up a quick singles point for UNE, dispatching her opponent at #3 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-1. Hill also claimed a straight-set victory in the #2 slot, coming away with a 6-3, 6-4 decision.

The Nor'easters clinched the match thanks to a resilient effort from Pelletier in the #5 slot. After taking the first set (6-3), Pelletier ripped off five consecutive points to rally from a 2-4 deficit in the second-set tiebreaker.

UNE's fifth and final point came off the racket of Alyssa Fritschka, who dropped the first set 1-6 before roaring back to win the second and third by identical 6-2 margins.

The Rams (0-7, 0-3 CNE) picked up their points with singles wins from Thu Nguyen at #1 and Jaylin Hills at #6.

Next up for UNE is a Friday non-conference date at Husson University.
