BANGOR, Maine -- Madeline Frank put the finishing touches on a fifth consecutive win for the University of New England, as the Nor'easters improved to 8-1 on the year with a 4-3 result against Husson University in women's tennis action on Friday (Oct. 3) at Bangor High School.

Frank came away with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at #1 singles to notch the deciding point and send the Eagles to just their second setback of the season (7-2).

It was 2-2 in the overall match when Zoe Lambke clipped Husson's Katelyn Cotter at #6 singles, which was Cotter's first loss in 2025 -- singles or doubles. Lambke dropped the opening set (4-6), came back to claim the second (6-3), and then dug deep for a 10-8 decision in the super tiebreak replacing a full third set.

Despite a #1 doubles win (6-3) by Frank and Nora Hill, the lone doubles point in the contest went to the hosts. Andie Lamontagne erased that deficit as the first match complete at #3 singles (6-1, 6-2), and then Hill knotted things back up with a 6-2, 6-2 outcome at #2 singles.

Throughout the season so far, the Nor'easters have found a path to success in variety of ways, depending on the day. After Frank's 5-4 record in the top spot, and Hill's 6-3 ledger on the second line, every other singles position has had multiple players combine for six positive results. Frank and Hill are also now 6-3 as a doubles pair.

UNE is right back on the court on Saturday, making the trip down to Conference of New England foe, Roger Williams University. The Hawks are sporting an unblemished record through nine matches (4-0 CNE).
