Statistics

NEWTON, Mass. – Goals from three different scorers, including the first of rookie Jill Hodgson's career, powered the University of New England women's soccer team in its 3-0 victory over Lasell Wednesday evening at Taylor Field.

Hodgson's goal – a rocket from just outside the box that found the top right corner of the cage – came in the 32nd minute just moments after a strong attempt from fellow first-year Gillian McGee hit the crossbar. That was all the offense UNE (4-1) needed as Haley Coombs and Sam Kowalick combined for three saves during the Nor'easters' third shutout through five games in the 2025 season.

Seconds after having a goal negated for an offsides call, Lindsey Butler gave UNE its second of the evening – and her second of the season – tucking a shot from the top of the box inside the left post during the 64th minute, with assists from Hodgson and Kylie Curtin. Karley Belisle tacked on the third tally in the 89th minute with her first goal of the season.

UNE directed 15 shots on goal, while Lasell registered just three. The Lasers (1-1-1) received 12 saves from goalkeeper Elizabeth DaSilva. Total shots also sided heavily with the Nor'easters, 26-8.

Two of Lasell's three shots came in the game's final 10 minutes and were stopped by first-year keeper Kowalick in her collegiate debut, which began in the 75th minute.

UNE now turns its attention to the Conference of New England opener at Western New England on Saturday, Sept. 13 at noon.
