Camels ride high-scoring start to defeat Nor'easters

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Connecticut College poured in seven first-quarter goals and cruised to a 17-6 victory over the University of New England women's lacrosse team on Wednesday afternoon, wrapping up the Nor'easters' two-game slate in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
 
In its final non-conference game, UNE (2-5) received three goals from Barrie Guertin, who netted a career-high five goals in Monday's 18-9 win over Bard. Four from Conn. College (5-2), delivered hat tricks.
 
Morgan White answered an early Camel goal to tie the game, 1-1, before Conn. College took over with a 9-0 run that stretched into opening minutes of the second quarter. The Camels entered the third with a 12-3 lead, and after opening the frame with three straight goals, traded tallies with UNE for the rest of the second half.
 
Conn. College earned a 29-14 advantage in groundballs, as well as a 16-11 edge in draw controls, and committed just 12 turnovers. The Camels put 26 shots on goal, with Jenna Trafford making nine saves for the Nor'easters. Ava Virga recorded three in the Conn. College cage.

UNE opens its Conference of New England slate on Wednesday, March 26 with a visit to Endicott at 4 p.m.
