CLERMONT, Fla. -- Taylor Mikolajczak and Abigail Alper combined for six hits, six runs, and seven RBI at the top of the Trinity College (Conn.) lineup in an 11-2 (5 innings) result against the University of New England at The Spring Games on Wednesday (Mar. 19).
After an unearned run in the top of the 2nd inning, the Bantams (2-2) received a two-run homer from Alper in the 3rd to pad the cushion.
A double by
Hannah Lappin and single from
Emma Michaud got one back for the Nor'easters (3-3) in the last half of the 3rd. But Mikolajczak's second extra-base connection -- a triple -- answered right back for Trinity in the 4th, and it was 8-1 by the end of the frame.
Another home run by Alper capped the offensive day for the Bantams in the 5th. On the day, Isabella Calagna contributed two hits and three RBI for Trinity, which secured the win in the circle for Zofia Sargent.
The first collegiate blast by
Jadyn Kimball tried to keep UNE alive in the 5th.
