Statistics

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Barrie Guertin netted a career-high five goals, and added an assist, to help the University of New England earn a dominant 18-9 women's lacrosse victory over Bard on Monday afternoon to open the Nor'easters' two-game slate in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Guertin, one of nine UNE goal scorers, scored all but one of her goals in the first half to help the Nor'easters (2-4) lead by as many as 10 during the second quarter, eventually taking a 12-3 advantage into the break. UNE's lead stretched as large as 17-4 in the third before the Raptors (0-6) made a late 5-0 run, which was snapped when Morgan White netted the game's final goal with four minutes remaining.

Izzy Broschk and Emma Collingwood both enjoyed four-point outings, each tallying two goals and two assists. White, along with her goal, gathered a season-best seven draw controls. Kimmy Staniar came up with four groundballs and three caused turnovers. The Nor'easters claimed a 27-20 edge in groundballs, along with a 19-11 advantage in draw controls.

Maggy Peyton paced Bard with three goals, while Emerson Embrey matched Guertin for the game high in points with six, scoring two goals and adding four assists. Ella Perreault contributed a game-best four caused turnovers.

Jenna Trafford recorded nine saves for UNE, while Bard starter Lexie Blackburn made eight in three quarters of action. Keira Redmond took over for the Raptors in the fourth and made a pair of saves while surrendering just one goal.

Bard scored the game's first goal less than three minutes into the first quarter, but the Nor'easters answered with four straight before the Raptors found the back of the net again. A dominant second quarter, which included an 8-0 UNE run, saw Bard get outscored by a margin of 8-2. The Raptors' late 5-0 run began with less than two minutes remaining in the third and was capped off by consecutive Peyton goals, with the latter coming inside the five-minute mark of the fourth. White's goal, the last of the game, was UNE's second player-down tally of the day. The first came from Paige DeVries in the first quarter.

The Nor'easters' second game in Hilton Head is set for Wednesday, March 19 at 9:30 a.m. as UNE squares off with Connecticut College in its non-conference finale.
