BOSTON – Wentworth never trailed on its way to a 95-53 Conference of New England victory over the University of New England men's basketball team on Tuesday evening inside Tansey Gymnasium.
Russell Dolabany and Jack Connell combined for 42 points as the Leopards (9-13, 8-7 CNE) roared to a 45-21 halftime lead and continued their domination in the second half. Wentworth shot well over 50 percent on the night from the field (39-of-71).
Dolabany led all scorers with 22 and Connell followed with 20, while Tyler Stewart was a third in double figures with 14. Connell was an efficient 8-of-13 from the floor and matched Sean Racette for the game high in the assist column with five.
Jaelen Jackson was a point shy of matching his career high with 18 to pace the Nor'easters (6-15, 4-11 CNE). UNE shot under 30 percent from the field in the first half, but found success from the perimeter later on, going 4-for-11 from deep in the second half.
A 12-0 Leopards run early in the first half handed UNE a 22-7 deficit and set the tone for a strong Wentworth offense that would continue scoring in bunches. The hosts grabbed their first 30-point lead, 58-28, early in the second half and didn't look back, maintaining a margin of at least 30 for the rest of the night.
UNE returns to the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday, Feb. 15 to host Nichols at 3 p.m.
