Nor'easters cruise past Hartford for key CNE win

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England amassed a season-best .349 hitting percentage on the way to a 3-0 women's volleyball victory (25-15, 25-13, 25-8) over the University of Hartford on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 8) as the Conference of New England (CNE) schedule wrapped up at Coach Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum.

With the triumph, the Nor'easters (12-12, 5-5 CNE) book a spot in the conference championship, which begins on Tuesday. The official pairings and bracket will be announced Saturday evening.

Aside from two instances when set scores were tied, UNE was in control throughout the day. Four individuals with at least 10 attacking swings finished north of .300 for the match. Ellijah Hanley hit .333 and led all players with 14 kills, while Chloe Miracle and Hannah Nowell tacked on 10 and nine kills, respectively. Kailyn Reilly crushed six more on 10 errorless attempts (.600).

Reilly factored in five of UNE's seven blocks, lined up right next to Nowell for three of them. Nowell also dialed up four service aces to total a team-high 15 points.

Miracle tallied 13 digs on the back end, which was the same as Kelsey Bradshaw, who added six assists. Abby Zamora guided the offense with 34 assists, to go with 10 digs and three kills.

For the Hawks (7-16, 2-8), Grace O'Brien had six kills and Kylee Connally put up 12 assists. Kalie Legassey collected 21 digs and Juliana Robinshaw notched 12 more.

Things were even at 13-all in the 1st set until the Nor'easters rattled off 12 of the next 14 points. Hanley contributed four of her six kills in the frame during the closing run. Starts of 12-3 in the 2nd and 14-2 in the 3rd kept the hosts rolling. [Watch Match Point]
