WENHAM, Mass. -- Third-seeded Gordon College advanced in the 2025 Conference of New England (CNE) Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 opening-round decision against No.6 University of New England on Tuesday (Oct. 28) at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
The Fighting Scots (10-3) move on to face second seed Nichols College in a Wednesday semifinal, while the Nor'easters conclude their inaugural fall season with a record of 11-6.
Andie Lamontagne and
Sofia Salcedo Ladaga took three games in a setback at #2 doubles, which sealed the doubles point for GC.
Sydney Pelletier and
Alyssa Fritschka were down 5-3 at #3 when it ended.
Gordon claimed singles results at #5, #1, and #4 to close out the contest. UNE was trailing by one set in the other three singles battles, but
Nora Hill (1-1) and
Zoe Lambke (3-3) were even in their second sets.
Prior to the match,
Madeline Frank was presented with the 2025 CNE Women's TennisÂ
Elite 21 Award, which recognizes the student-athlete with the highest GPA who is participating in the championship.
