PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Two first-half goals were enough for Johnson & Wales to secure a 2-0 Conference of New England triumph over the University of New England men's soccer team Saturday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Christopher Vargas had the opening tally in the seventh minute on just the second shot of the game and Ryan Alves posted the second during the 35th minute. Alexander Nardolillo made five saves for the Wildcats (7-3-4, 5-1-2) – all in the second half – to keep the Nor'easters (2-9-3, 0-6-1) off the board.

Despite the loss, UNE edged JWU in both shots on goal (5-2) and total shots (14-7), along with a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

UNE plays two of its final three games at home, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 21 as the Nor'easters host Wentworth at 6 p.m.
