MILTON, Mass. -- The University of New England women's tennis team dropped just five games across 15 sets on the way to a 7-0 Conference of New England (CNE) triumph over Curry College on Thursday (Oct. 16) at the Scott Tennis Courts.
The Nor'easters improve to 10-3 overall and 4-3 in conference matches, heading into a Saturday road trip to Western New England University (3-5 CNE) -- the closest institution behind UNE in the race for the last postseason spot.
Already leading 1-0 with the point from doubles,
Andie Lamontagne at #3 singles was the first to pad the cushion with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Zoe Lambke and
Olivia Crooker also blanked their opponents at #4 and #5, respectively, to finish off the contest.
Cassidey Card was called into action for the first time this season and chalked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #6 singles.
Madeline Frank and
Nora Hill -- who added smooth wins at #1 and #2 singles -- combined to get UNE going in the opening round with a sweep at #1 doubles. Lamontagne and Card followed with a 6-0 result at #2, and then Lambke and Crooker added a 6-1 outcome at #3 for good measure.
The Colonels remain winless on the year (0-8).
